The inaugural fundraising gala for enCourage Advocacy Center promises to be the premiere social event of 2024.
Mint, A Night to Treasure, will be on Saturday, Feb. 3, at Lochland Country Club in Hastings. A social hour and silent auction will be at 5:30 p.m. and dinner and live auction at 7 p.m.
Jo Bair, enCourage executive director, said Mint will provide an evening of elegance.
“When you think of Mint, you think of something that shines, something that’s pristine and valued,” she said. “We wanted to bring that to our supporters to show them how much we value them.”
The evening of joy will also shine a light on a lesser-known side of enCourage, which addresses abuse and violence in Adams, Nuckolls, Clay and Webster counties.
“It’s part of our mission to promote safe, nonviolent communities,” Bair said. “A community without violence is a joyful cause, as is helping our clients reclaim and rebuild their lives.”
The advocacy center provides services to survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, stalking and human trafficking.
“We’re all born mint, perfect right out of the box,” she said. “It’s our job to remind our clients that they are still mint, no matter what struggles they’ve gone through.”
Most of all, Mint will be a celebration.
“It’s an opportunity to get dressed up, have a wonderful meal and enjoy a great night out,” Bair said. “It’s a Night to Treasure because we all deserve to be treasured.”
